CMC is the pioneer in the field of construction management in Georgia. With a history counting a decade, it has become the biggest company on the market boasting 77 completed and 18 ongoing projects in its portfolio and the total amount of investment worth over 2 billion USD. The key to success has always been a team of experienced professionals, fearlessly tackling any difficulties and bold enough to handle projects of any scale.

The History:

The construction business in leading countries of the world has long established the practice that entails the involvement of intermediary companies, responsible for organizing and monitoring construction project, its organizational, financial and technical aspects and ensuring the optimization of client’s financial plan and deadlines.
If there is a client and the contractor, then why the need for a mediator company, you may ask.But consider numerous technical and other details within every project and the importance of managing them in favor of client’s interest, which requires plenty of time, relevant qualification, experience and energy.
The story of CMC begins in 2009, when two friends with extensive experience in construction business decided to establish their own company with a sole goal of handling projects of any difficulty and scale with the highest quality and most importantly within the planned timeframe and budget.

The First Project:

CMC took on the first challenge in 2009 when it became the intermediary company between The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) and its contractor. With a team of five CMC created NBG’s cash center project. Then came the project for The Ministry of Justice, followed by several Public Service Hall constructions and numerous buildings for the state or private investments. Currently CMC is involved in the management of industrial, commercial, infrastructural, residential, urban development and other projects.
Between 2009 and 2012, all this was achieved at the expense of their 24-hourlong hard work. Needless to say, there were flaws, but huge experience had builtup. The stage of stability came between 2012-2014, which was followed by years of rapid development, when CMC took on even greater challenges. Today, the company has over 70 employees and is growing continuously. Apart from Georgia, CMC plans to enter the regional construction markets.

The Advantage:

The main advantage of the company is its flexibility. CMC has the ability to adapt fully with the existing conditions and analyze the business from the client’s perspective, expressing the readiness to take on certain risks, which is another important element of the company’s approach.
Completing the project within the set timeframe and budget is of special significance. According to the client’s needs and wishes, the company invites international specialists, global hotel operators and architects. CMC has been in a successful partnership with international financial institutions, such as EBRD, OPIC and IFC. Moreover, the company has experience on working with international contracts like FIDIC and EPC Turnkey.

The Challenge:

The main challenge for the company is seeking out qualified specialists. Apart from being able to execute more projects by having qualified professionals onboard, it is also important that there is demand for exporting theservices to the regional markets. Hence, enhancing the qualification of existing employees and preparing new professionals, as well as ensuring they are involved in various trainings and international events on a yearly basis, is one of the main directions of the company’s development.
By offering qualified service in compliance with international standards, CMC has triggered increase in the overall level of professionalism within the local construction business. The qualification of employees has improved in the company as well as in that of the contractors.

The Success Formula:

Many factors contribute to the success of the company, be it experience, expertise or various inner and outer features. However, the primary determinant for the success of CMC was its dedication to the work and the team effort. When these two are the main driving force of the company, even the hardest challenges can be overcome.

Future Plans:

In 2018, the founders made the decision to step away from everyday management, handing over the leadership to the highly qualified employees within the company. From today’s perspective, it is clear that the approach proved successful, as from year to year, the young management has been successfully tackling difficult projects and showing substantial results. It is safe to say that they are at the forefront of building Georgia.
Together with its growth, the corporate culture of the company has been developing with business processes being organized and standardized in an improved manner. The next objective of CMC is the digital transformation of the business practices and services, which is inevitable in the AI era that we live in. This will enable CMC to manage substantially more projects with the help of the company’s inner resources, at the same time allowing it to offer the expertise and solutions to a larger numberof clients both locally and internationally.
